Carley (Myszkowski) Blades, EdD, LMHC, NCC
Accepting clients in Florida (virtual & in-person).
Like most specialized providers, I am not in-network with insurance plans. Private pay allows for the highest level of privacy, confidentiality, and flexibility in your care.
I have partnered Thrizer to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Paying privately for therapy offers greater privacy, as your records aren’t shared with insurance companies, and allows for more personalized care without the need for a formal diagnosis. It also provides flexibility in the type, length, and focus of treatment, ensuring uninterrupted support regardless of insurance changes. Investing directly in your mental health gives you control over your care, ensuring it’s driven by your goals and not insurance requirements.
-
Yes, of course! Yes of course! If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, you are welcome to use them.
I am happy to submit claims on your behalf (via a company called Thrizer) or provide you with a monthly superbill, so you can coordinate with your insurance company directly.
-
If your insurance includes out-of-network benefits, you can usually get reimbursed for 60–80% of each session’s cost after meeting your deductible.
I’d be happy to check your insurance benefits for you! Just have your insurance card ready with your Member ID during our free intro call.
If you’d rather check on your own, you can call your insurance provider directly—the number for Member Services is on the back of your card.
When you call, here are some helpful questions to ask:
Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage?
Can I use these benefits for telehealth sessions?
What is my out-of-network deductible?
How much of my deductible has been met this year?
Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?
What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?
How much will I be reimbursed for a 55-minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90837)?
How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
How long does it usually take to receive reimbursement?
-
Using out-of-network benefits is usually pretty simple, and you have a couple of options:
Option 1: I partner with a company called Thrizer, which can handle claim submissions to your insurance company for a small fee. Once you’ve met your deductible, you can choose how you’d like to pay:
Pay the full session fee upfront and get reimbursed directly by your insurance company, or
Just pay your co-insurance, and Thrizer will cover the remaining balance while they wait for reimbursement on their end.
Option 2: If you’d rather manage things yourself, I can provide you with a monthly superbill that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. In this case, you’ll pay the full session fee at the time of each appointment.
We can go over both options during our intro call and figure out what’s easiest for you.
-
Before scheduling our first therapy session, I like to start with a free 15-minute intro call. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
I’ll ask a bit about what’s bringing you to therapy
I’ll share more about my background and approach
You can ask any questions you have
We’ll go over practical details like rates, insurance, and scheduling
-
If we both feel like it’s a good fit after our intro call, we’ll go ahead and schedule your first therapy session. I’ll send over a few quick forms to fill out before we meet, along with a secure video link you’ll use for all our sessions moving forward.
-
As a therapist, my approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and down-to-earth—I want the process of getting started to feel as comfortable as possible.
In our first session or two, I’ll ask you some questions to get a better sense of your story and what’s brought you here. I’ll listen closely and without judgment as we work together to set goals for what you’d like to get out of therapy.
Throughout our sessions, you’ll have space to vent, gain perspective, and explore new insights. We’ll work on challenging unhelpful thoughts, building coping skills, and finding strategies that actually work for you.
-
I usually meet with clients once a week, especially in the beginning. For new clients, I ask that we meet weekly for at least the first four to five weeks—it helps us build momentum and gives you the best chance to start seeing real progress.
After that, we can always adjust how often we meet based on what feels right for you.
-
We can meet virtually through a private, secure video platform—so you can join sessions from the comfort of your own space—or in person at my office in Orlando. Whatever feels most comfortable and convenient for you works for me!
